Happy Thanksgiving!
I’m taking a break this week of sharing a recipe to share some tips and tricks and a glimpse at behind-the-scenes at D.O. this week. We’re at the end of what we, in the D.O. family, call “the 9 day stretch.” Since we are open the Monday before Thanksgiving, and we also extend our hours starting Saturday, it’s a long week. But it’s an exciting one! It truly is a special time for us! We love the hustle & bustle and being able to be a part of so many families’ holiday.
Our bakers are baking pies around the clock 24 hours a day to ensure that you can have all of your favorites at your Thanksgiving table. Delicious Orchards guarantees to have the following pies in stock the week of Thanksgiving: apple, pecan, cherry, mince, and pumpkin pies. Here’s a picture of a glimpse into just one of our ovens. We bake about 50,000 the 5 days leading up to Thanksgiving! That’s a lot of pies!
Here’s something to know: Coconut custard pies are not sold until Wednesday. What?!! The reason is that since these pies come from a scratch bakery there are no preservatives in them. They will not make it to Thursday if bought before then.
Here are some other shopping tips!
-To beat the crowds, come in on Monday, people always think we’re closed…we’re not!
-If you are going to shop on Tuesday or Wednesday (when we open at 8AM), come at 9am in the morning. The line should be gone, and you’ll beat the folks that think we are opening at our usual 9:30.
-Make sure to enjoy your free cider or coffee we are giving out to warm you up.
Oh and lastly, have fun! It’s a season of thankfulness and we have quite a lot of things to be thankful for. Thank you for the many years of traditions! Happy Thanksgiving!
Hi. If I buy my apple pie on Saturday or Sunday, Would it still be fresh by Thursday? The reason is that I work at a retail store. I am working the whole weekend from Saturday thru Wednesday. I don’t get out of work on Wednesday till 12:00 P.M. Thanks
Hello! If you buy the pie on Sunday, it will still be fresh on Thursday but it has to be refrigerated. There are no preservatives so the pie has to be refrigerated. Also, a reminder that our holiday store hours are:\nSaturday, Sunday & Monday: 9AM – 6PM. \nTuesday & Wednesday: 8AM-7PM \nThank you & Happy Thanksgiving!
