How did a small orchard in Colts Neck become a 60,000 square foot country food market attracting more than 2.5 million visitors annually?
The McDonald family, owners and operators of Delicious Orchards, would like to thank photographer Brandon Stanton for a wonderful profile in his popular Humans of New York series.
‘Tis the season to show those special ones near and far how much you care! Let D.O. help you find something for everyone! Take advantage of Delicious Orchards’ Mail Order and ship someone a box of delicious goodies that won’t disappoint. There are choices from just donuts, fruit & bakery, to fruit & gourmet assortment and all that’s in-between.
It’s an exciting week around our store as preparations are made (along with a lot of pies!) for delicious Thanksgiving celebrations near and far! Whether it’s the turkey on the table or the delicious side dishes using the freshest produce around or the apple cider poured in the glasses or the pies at dessert, we really feel thankful to be a part of your holiday traditions!
September is here and while the days may still be warm outside, we welcome the changing of seasons with the return of pumpkin pie and all things apple! With the traditional apple pies, apple cider donuts, apple strudels, apple turnovers, apple fritters, fresh pressed apple cider (are you still with us?!) filling the store, we also have fun unique items like apple butter, apple grilling sauce, apple flavored tea, and more!
Summer is the best time to bring a dish to a BBQ or last minute gathering! Fresh produce so often makes such a simple crowd-pleasing dish. Whether you slice up some watermelon and serve it on a tray, rinse some fresh berries and call it a day, or even put together a little dish of sliced tomato and mozzarella (garnished with some basil and a drizzle of EVOO and balsamic, too!), D.O. makes it easy for you with fresh ingredients!
Warm sunny days, apple cider on the patio, flowers in bloom and Jersey produce heading to the shelves of Delicious Orchards… just a few reasons why it’s a great time of year! It’s easy to bring the kids on a sunny day, grab lunch from the Cider Bar Cafe and let them run around on the grass. It’s fun to browse the outdoor patio flowers and herbs. And of course, you can’t leave without taking home some fresh Jersey-grown produce to enjoy. With summer BBQs on the horizon, there’s nothing quite like the flavors of spring at D.O.
Holidays usually mean celebrating with food! And we love being a part of your traditions, new and old. During the Easter season, our bakery is busy with seasonal classics like hot cross buns and babka. But our bakers also have fun putting a spin on cupcakes and donuts.
Our coffee and candy department is stocked with all the necessities for that perfect basket like jelly beans, marzipan, creme filled chocolate eggs and chocolate bunnies for the traditionalist along with novelty chocolate covered pretzels and Vermont Nut Free Chocolates! (Or maybe even a bag of donuts thrown in there for good measure!)
Don’t show up to dinner without a white lily or hyacinth or a fresh cut bouquet for the hostess!
And of course, D.O. has the freshest produce around to make your dinner a delicious one!
So however you’re celebrating this season, we hope it’s a delicious one!
While February can be a time of hibernation and hearty soups, casseroles, and citrus, it’s also often a season to show those special somebodies that you’ve been thinking of them!
And D.O. has you covered.
The weekend before Thanksgiving brings about a certain excitement that is unique to the Delicious Orchards family! And when you come, you know it! The ovens are baking 24/7 filled with pies to carry on traditions and make Thanksgiving tables complete. Whether it be a certain vegetable side dish that’s always served, a spiced cider using our fresh pressed apple cider, a trip to Delicious Orchards the day before, or a pie that’s baked in our bakery, we love to hear about your D.O. Thanksgiving traditions.
Here are some things to keep in mind for the days leading up to Thanksgiving! Delicious Orchards guarantees to have the following pies in stock starting the Saturday before Thanksgiving:
Coconut Custard pies are not sold until Wednesday right before Thanksgiving. What?!! The reason is that since our pies come from a scratch bakery, there are no preservatives in them. Coconut Custard will not make it to Thursday if bought before then. We know it’s inconvenient for some shoppers, but we stand behind the quality of our pies.
And don’t forget we do have extended holiday hours:
